High-rise living

woman carrying boxes High life: go for a high-rise apartment and you could be on the move quickly

Looking for somewhere to live? Want to move quickly? If you're on your own, or with a partner or other adult, have a look at our high-rise living options. You may be surprised at the view!

The blocks are mostly between eight and 16 storeys high. The apartments have one or two bedrooms, with a living room, bathroom, separate toilet and kitchen. Some are reserved for people of a certain age to reduce lifestyle conflicts.

You get superb views over the city and the hills from many apartments. Plus:

  • lifts to all floors and your own front door
  • secure communal entry to the block, with your own key-fob 24 hour access
  • 24-hour-a-day cctv watched by security staff
  • car parking spaces for most blocks
  • attractive landscaped gardens and community facilities
  • a caretaker on hand to keep the block clean and well-maintained
  • a choice of unfurnished or furnishing packages
  • residents' groups helping improve local services

How quickly can I move?

Here's the good news. Unlike many homes, you don't always need to have been registered for rehousing for many years - which makes high-rise living a great option if you want to move quickly.

Here's a list of our blocks, with the average rehousing 'queue date' you're likely to need to get a home. It also shows whether a block is reserved for people of a certain age to reduce lifestyle conflicts.

How do I get one?

Here's what to do . . .

  • If you're not yet registered for rehousing, make sure you say you'll consider an apartment in a multi-storey block when you complete the application form
  • If you are already registered for rehousing and didn't originally include multi-storey flats, change your application details
  • When you are registered for rehousing you can bid for high rise apartments on the Homefinder website. They are listed as 'multi-storey flats'. Go to manchesterhomefinder.org.uk
  • If you are interested in a block reserved for over 60s see retirement housing. We will help you through the rehousing process
