We want our work force to reflect the diversity of our customers and communities. By diversity we mean the range of different skills and qualities that people bring to us, as well as race and gender differences. Our teams recognise and celebrate diversity whilst embracing common goals and continuous improvement.

We have Disability Symbol Status, Stonewall Diversity Champion recognition and we received an “Excellent” rating after our Social Housing Equality Framework assessment.

We run support groups which employees are welcome to join including.

  • Disability Interest Group
  • LGBT Group (for those with an interest in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues

These groups are valuable, open discussion forums where employees can have their say on how Northwards can improve equality both in the workplace and for our customers.

Breaking down barriers

Our recruitment methods are open and accessible to disabled people. We make every effort to supply all necessary building adaptations and employment equipment so disabled employees can do their jobs properly. If there are elements of the job which aren’t possible then we will adapt things to make it possible.
