(Lee, one of the adaptations team, fitting a walk-in shower)
If you, or anyone in your household, struggles to get around your home, is disabled or has a visual or hearing impairment, you may be able to get help.
From simple things like bath seats to big changes like fitting a stairlift, there’s lots of help available that could make your life easier.
We call these big changes “adaptations” and they’ve made a massive difference to many tenants’ lives – just like Mrs Comer, who sent us this lovely thank you card:
We’ve installed wet rooms for residents who struggle getting in the bath. One tenant is 99-years-old! Her son tells us she now looks forward to a shower every day and is “squeaky clean”.
We fitted an over-head shower for one tenant who suffers from seizures. This has made a huge difference - before this, she needed her young daughter to keep an eye on her while she had a bath.
This year, we’re carrying out our biggest adaptation yet – adding a specially-designed bedroom and bathroom so a teenage girl can finally leave hospital and return home to her family.
Other adaptations we can make include things like widening doors and fitting ramps for wheelchairs, putting in extra toilets and installing lifts, hoists and handrails.
