Justlife is a charity that supports people living in unsupported temporary accommodation, offering drop-in sessions where people can access housing and benefits advice, support in troubleshooting tenancy issues and skills-building activities.
In 2022 their frontline services helped 490 hidden homeless individuals.
Following 3 years of fundraising, Justlife’s centre in Manchester received a much-needed refurbishment. Still, they also needed help with their back garden outdoor space - to use for a gardening programme which will provide people with practical skills and also support mental and physical well-being.
Justlife reached out to our repairs partner EQUANS, who provided skilled volunteers to attend and carry out work in the garden.
EQUANS were able to replace the borders around the flower beds, construct 3 new planters, empty and relocate a large planter that Justlife already owned and re-fil with soil. On top of this Equans also installed flags to the grassed areas to create a new path.
Part of Justlife's initial funding request was £200 for new flowers and plants to be purchased to fill the new planters.
In total 4 volunteers dedicated 50 hours to carrying out this work, donating £321.54 for materials, including the £200 for plants.
