Struggling with buying food during lockdown?

Here's a list of charities and community groups providing free or affordable food parcels. If you know of any others that you think would be useful to include below for our tenants or others living in north Manchester, please contact us.

The Bread & Butter Thing

This charity runs food pantries from:

  • Higher Blackley Community Centre
  • Gateway at The Church of the Saviour in Collyhurst
  • St Dunstan's Primary School in Moston

Their members receive a week’s worth of shopping for as little as £3.50 for an individual and £7 for an average family.

The shopping is made up of products which supermarkets, factories and farms would usually throw out despite being fine. Because of this, members can’t choose what products they get, but all products are fresh.

If you would like to use the service, text 07860 063 304 with your full name, your postcode and the name of the pantry you would like to use: "HBCC", "St Dunstan's" or "Gateway". They will then get in touch with you.

Find out more about the service here: https://breadandbutterthing.org/.
