(The Chatterbox team preparing their food bank)
Back in April 2020, at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, our HR team set up a Just Giving page to raise money for local charity, the Chatterbox Project.
We usually collect £1 from all staff for “Dress Down Friday” but whilst most of us were working from home we had Dressing Gown Monday and Tracksuit Tuesday as well!
We shared our campaign with tenants too and the donations flooded in.
Kath Winstanley commented: “Great cause, I’m certainly saving money working from home, I’m spending less on my dinners.”
And Christine Elliot said: “I’m donating what I would have spent this month on driving! I know it will go to good use.”
Chair of the Northwards Board, Dave Power said: “Many employees have found working from home quite difficult. Northwards has always been an organisation that sits in the very heart of the community it serves. The switch from getting out and about meeting people to having to stay at home was hard. The Just Giving page was a brilliant way for everyone to contribute to our community safely.”
What the charity does
By November, we had exceeded our target of £2,500, so we visited the Chatterbox Project to tell them the good news. We helped them get ready for the weekly food bank, while Sue Asprey, Chair of the board told us a bit more about how our donation will help. Watch this video to find out more:
