Our priorities
We spoke to thousands of tenants during consultation about
setting up Northwards Housing.
We have used their opinions to draw up plans to improve services.
Going side-by-side with the improvements to every tenants' home, they
will bring lasting benefit to you, your neighbours and the area as a
whole.
Here are some of the ways we are improving the local housing service.
We are:
- putting North Manchester tenants first through a local Board of
directors, a local head office for senior managers and support staff,
and three area-based housing offices.
- building on the success of the the Housing On Call service, with a
new, dedicated telephone number (03000 123 123) and special staff team
for Northwards Housing tenants.
- giving you access to a full range of online services through this
Northwards Housing website.
- spending more time out and about on estates tackling issues that
matter most to tenants - dealing with things like anti-social behaviour
and improving the environment.
-
upgrading the caretaking service.
- making sure that repair contractors and suppliers offer local
employment and training opportunities, and have environmentally-friendly
policies.
- introducing a tailor-made written agreement (or compact)
specifically for north Manchester tenants on how to involve them more in
housing services; and developing creative ways to involve tenants,
especially under-represented groups, in managing their neighbourhood.
-
setting performance targets for repair contractors and suppliers; and
negotiating rigorous agreements on standards for services like mobile
cleaning, grounds maintenance, gardening work and security.
-
publishing plain-language information for tenants about how the
improvements are going, what standard of service to expect, and how
Northwards Housing is performing.
- improving the way we find homes for new homes and making
sure those homes are fit to move into.
