Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) ensure that an organisationís policies and procedures do not directly or indirectly discriminate against certain groups and, where possible, promote equality.
It is a way to make sure staff think carefully about the likely impact of their work, and take action to improve services.
We have a legal responsibility to assess all our policies and functions, and to set out how we monitor any possible discrimination against people because of their race, disability or gender.
We have gone one step further. We also look at other areas where discrimination could happen; for example because of a personís age, sexual orientation, religion or belief.
Equality Impact Assessments help us deliver a fair, accessible, equal and inclusive service to all our customers.
