Judaism is the original of the three Abrahamic faiths and began in the Middle East over 3,500 years ago.

Jewish spiritual leaders are called Rabbis. Jewish people worship in synagogues.

Judaism has a rich history of religious texts, but the most important document is the Torah.

Jews believe in a single God with whom they have a special relationship called a covenant. In exchange for all the good that God brings, Jewish people keep faith with God's laws.

Festivals
  • Hanukah the Festival of Lights.
  • Passover commemorates the Exodus and freedom of the Israelites from ancient Egypt. As described in the Book of Exodus, Passover marks the "birth" of the Children of Israel who become the Jewish nation, as the Jews' ancestors were freed from being slaves of Pharaoh and allowed simply to become followers of God instead.
  • Rosh Hashanah celebrates the Jewish New Year and creation of the world.
  • Shavuot celebrates the Jews receiving the Torah on Mount Sinai.
  • Succot celebrates the ancient pilgrimage to the temple in Jerusalem
  • Yom Kippur the Day of Atonement.
