Your award date

people Market forces: the earlier your queue date, the better your chance of a home

When you register for rehousing for a Northwards home, you get an application number, a Rehousing Band, and an 'award date'.

The earlier your award date with a Band, the more chance you have. That's because if people with the same priority want a home, it goes to the one with the earliest date.

You go into one of six bands depending on your circumstances. Your award date is based on the day you first go into that Band.

Qualifying for an earlier award date

    What's your award date?

Your award date is on the letter we (or the landlord handling your application) sent you when you first registered, and on any other letters about your rehousing application.

You can also find it online on the Homefinder website. Log on and follow the links to 'Check your rehousing status'.

    Move quickly

Flats in multi-storey blocks can frequently have fewer applicants bidding, therefore they are often allocated to people that have been waiting less time than those waiting for houses, for example. This makes them a great option if you want to move quickly. Find out more about high-rise living.

All properties are allocated in Band order. This means that if there is a suitable Band 1 applicant, they will be offered the property. If there is no suitable Band 1 applicant, the property will be allocated to a suitable Band 2 applicant, and so on.
