Important message for existing Northwards tenants looking for another home

Due to the need for Northwards to make budget savings, we are currently restricting transfers between Northwards properties.

Until further notice, existing Northwards tenants wanting to transfer to other Northwards properties will only be considered if one of the following applies:

1. They are in Band 1 (the highest priority band) of the Council's allocations policy.

2. They are Band 2 or 3 ,aged 60 or under and have at least one spare bedroom and want to move to a smaller home suitable for their needs. In order to be exempt from the restriction on transfers, these applicants need to be in receipt of Housing Benefit and have spare bedrooms according to the criteria set out by the Government in the Welfare Reform Act.

3. Band 2 and 3 households overcrowded by 2 bedrooms and wanting to move to a larger home suitable for their needs.

4. Families living with children in high rise accommodation.

If you are an existing Northwards tenant and not in one of these groups, you can still register for rehousing and bid for homes managed by landlords other than Northwards. However, we won't be able to consider any bids you make for other homes managed by Northwards.

Mutual exchanges are not affected by this, and we are happy to help you look into a mutual exchange if that is something you are interested in. We can also talk to you about solving problems in your current home, meaning that you don't need to move.

If you are not currently a Northwards tenant, then you are not affected by this. If you would like any further information, please ring 03000 123 123 and ask to speak to Northwards' Rehousing Team.
