Extra care housing

We're working with Manchester City Council to develop one of our tower blocks in Charlestown. This major development will create 91 completely refurbished apartments for tenants who are over 55. The block will also be fully modernised, to include the latest security and facilities, plus an in-house day centre for all kinds of group-meets and activities.

A £6million refurb

Along with Manchester City Council, we've been awarded over £6million from the Department of Health make this transformation. We'll be using this money to completely refurb some of our flats so they provide the very best and latest in home comfort. Both one-bed and two-bed apartments will be available.

Who's it for?

The minimum age for tenants will be 55. Some properties will be allocated to current tenants who are looking to move to a smaller property (also known as downsizing). We will also be giving priority, based on care needs. If you think that one of these apartments is perfect for you, or a Northwards tenant that you know, please let us know.

We hope that the first of our tenants will be able to move into their new apartment in the autumn of 2010. There may also be opportunities for people wishing to buy an apartment. If you are interested please email Frances, our Housing Options Officer at housingoptions@northwardshousing.co.uk or call her 0161 227 3088 to register your interest. We'll keep in touch with you as the scheme moves forward.
