

Lightbowne is about three miles north east of the city centre. The area lies a quarter of a mile either side of Lightbowne Road, from the Church Lane/Thorp Road crossroads, to Broadhurst park. The new M60 motorway around Manchester is less than two miles away, giving access to other parts of the city and the north west. It is close to Oldham Road, a major route into the city centre.
Homes in the Church Lane area are about half a mile from the Harpurhey District shopping centre. Other parts of Lightbowne are no more than a mile away. As well as a variety of smaller shops, there is a large Asda supermarket at the centre, an indoor food market hall and an outdoor market with a variety of stalls. Homes on the west side of Lightbowne Road are within walking distance of more local shops on Moston Lane - and homes on the other side of Lightbowne Road are not far from shops on Oldham Road. There are local post offices on Lightbowne Road and on Ashley Lane. There's a medical centre on Lightbowne Road too.
Most of the area is very close to the North Central Manchester Business park (off Monsall Road) - an exciting venture that's boosting the local economy and offering many new jobs and training opportunities. There are regular buses along Lightbowne Road (within quarter of a mile of all homes) - the vibrant city centre, with its shops, entertainment and leisure facilities is just a few minutes journey. Most homes on the east side of Lightbowne Road are within half a mile of the station at Dean Lane (just off Oldham Road) with regular trains to Manchester and Oldham.
The refurbished Lightbowne Road family and community centre has children's nurseries, a cafe and other facilities. It's home to a new 'Sure Start' service for younger children and their parents - from baby-massage to advice and support.
