Harpurhey lies on both sides of Rochdale Road, near its junction with Queens Road - just two miles north of the city centre. All homes are within half a mile of Rochdale Road - a major route from Manchester to the north and the M60 motorway.

Living in Harpurhey South

Most of the area is within half a mile of the North City Centre complex. As well as a variety of smaller shops and indoor market, there's a large Asda store and a unique covered outdoor market. There's a post office and medical centre too. Not only is it the place to come for a whole range of shops, but it has special Sure Start facilities for families with young children. It has a leisure and fitness centre, with a modern swimming pool, fitness suite and dance studio. A new police station is helping build a safe and secure atmosphere.

There are frequent buses into Manchester and up to Middleton and Rochdale. The vibrant city centre, with its shops, entertainment and leisure facilities is just a few minutes journey. The estate on the east side of Rochdale Road benefits from its own local bus route, although people living west of Queens Park (in Hendham Vale) have to get to Rochdale Road.

Harpurhey is close to the new Central Manchester Business park (off Monsall Road) - an exciting venture that's boosting the local economy and offering new jobs and training opportunities.
