Manchester is a thriving international city. But some areas in the north and east haven't enjoyed the full benefit of recent growth.
Many of our communities went into decline when factories closed in the 1970s and 80s. High unemployment contributed to further problems: poor health, low achievement at school, and benefit-dependency.
But our area has excellent transport links to the city centre, so we're in a good position to benefit from Manchester's wealth creation.
Although we don't have the resources to directly tackle all the problems ourselves, we're teaming-up with other organisations to help create diverse, high quality residential areas with first class services, and to reduce social and economic inequalities between our area and other parts of the city.
