Northwards Nominated for two National Awards!

Northwards Housing have reached the final of the National Federation of ALMOs (NFA) annual awards!

The NFA awards recognise and celebrate the hard work and achievements of ALMOs (Arms Length Management Organisations), tenants and resident groups.

We were shortlisted in two categories:

Most innovative project:

Safe, Sound, off the Ground is a campaign to raise awareness about making life difficult for burglars.

Living in a high-rise apartment poses different risks to living in a house. Safe, Sound, off the Ground was thought up by our proactive High Rise Living Forum who were tired of strangers coming into the blocks and concerned about some of their older neighbours. Tenants worked closely with the Northwards Wardens to develop the campaign using posters, key rings and intercom stickers to spread their important message.

Best use of communication:

This year Northwards became the UK’s first social landlord to launch a multi-purpose Smartphone App, embracing new technology and giving tenants an easy way of contacting us.

The app is multi purpose so tenants can use it to report repairs and anti-social behaviour at any time, day or night. They can also attach photos taken on their smartphone. The app encourages tenants to take part in competitions and get involved with Northwards. They can also use it to set rent reminders and budget living costs.

The award submissions were judged by an independent panel made up of:

The winners will be announced at a ceremony held at the Midland Hotel in Manchester on 11 July as part of the NFA’s annual two-day conference.

We’ll let you know how we get on after the event so watch this space!
