What a Knockout!

Clowning around: it was a big thumbs-up for our free family fun day

Hundreds of local people enjoyed a fantastic family fun day at Boggart Hole Clough on Saturday 13 September. And even the sun smiled down on us!

It was a day full of music and performance -all for free! There were clowns, huge prizes, face-painting and even boggarts! And lots of people took the opportunity to suggest how their area can be improved. In the months ahead we'll look at all the ideas as we decide how and where to spend improvement cash.

TV gameshow

The main attraction was a recreation of the classic TV gameshow, It's a Knockout! Teams from local community organisations bounced around in kangaroo outfits, rolled along in rubber tubes and tumbled through bouncy obstacles!

The Abraham Moss theatre group entertained the crowd from the main stage, along with a variety of acts including Tiffany, a 'Britain's got talent' entrant from White Moss Youth Club.

Chair of our decision-making board, Sue Ratchford, had her own cafe stall at the event: "What a fantastic day", she said. "After a rainy week, the sun came out just in time. The entertainment was non-stop; with something for everyone, young and old. It's a big thank you to the staff and volunteers, our sponsors, and especially the people of north Manchester for making the event such a success".

Sponsors

The event was kindly sponsored by Manchester Working, who do some of our home improvements, with support from our other building partners Seddons, the Lord Group and Wates Living Space. And thanks to our others sponsors Aon, Johnstone's paints, Greggs, Morrisons and Enlighten Housing Consultancy.
