Christmas comes early for older residents

All wrapped up: local children brought the Christmas spirit to some of our older residents!

Christmas came early for people living in Victoria Square, George Halstead Court and Edward Grant Court when local school children sang carols and delivered free festive hampers.

Scheme manager at George Halstead Court, Susan Cunliffe, said: "Residents really enjoy this event and look forward to it all year. The children are all well behaved and put on a wonderful performance. It's lovely to see the youngsters and older people enjoying time together"

Bumper hampers

The bumper hampers were made up by the children from St Malachy's RC Primary School in Collyhurst and Abraham Moss Senior School in Crumpsall. They included Christmas puddings, mince pies, custard, biscuits, chocolates and coffee, and a Christmas card designed by the children.

Kim Torkamani, teacher at Abraham Moss Senior School said: "This really is a worthwhile event. The children are a bit shy at first, but by the end of the session you can tell they're really enjoying the company of the residents - it's a great way to end the year!"
