Northwards tenants at Apprentice Court, Harpurhey, are celebrating.
Hands up! residents in Harpurhey are using the latest technology for fitness and fun
They've got a cash grant from Manchester's Valuing Older People partnership and the national charity Help the aged.
The imaginative and lively pensioners used the money to buy something quite unexpected; a top of the range 'Nintendo Wii' home video game console. They can now get to grips with 'Wii Fit' - a fun and fitness exercise game that improves your balance, fitness, and even the way you move. Stand on the Wii Fit board and it measures your weight, and movement. The game has lots of gentle exercise activities for all ages, including yoga poses, aerobics and balance games.
Pat Scappaticci, Head of Retirement Housing at Northwards said: "Residents are proving you're never too old to play. It's great how they've decided to embrace this new technology instead of being frightened of it. This lot are certainly breaking down stereotypes!"
