Fresh air, birds singing, ducks swimming - even the rain can't spoil a leisurely stroll through Tatton Park. One minute you're enjoying traditional English country gardens outside an eighteenth century mansion; the next you're in the heart of Orient, in a perfect replica of a beautiful Japanese garden.
Organised by our health trainer, Steve Hoy, this is one of the many great walks in and around Manchester for Northwards tenants. Once a week, members of the Northwards community get together to enjoy the beauty of our surrounding area and take peaceful strolls in some of Manchester's finest nature spots.
The group is growing each week, as newcomers spread the word to family, friends and neighbours. The walks are all free and you can do them at your own pace - so don't worry about holding people up! They're a great day out and a chance to keep fit while taking in the natural beauty of areas from Blackley forest to Debdale Park.
Pat has been doing the walks for over a month now. She told us how they have become the highlight of her week. "It's wonderful - it gets me out of the house and into the fresh air! I get to see new places, meet people and have a good old natter. I can also walk at my own pace and I feel fitter - it's a good laugh too!"
