Anyone for coffee? Residents and staff from some of our retirement housing blocks caused a big stir on Monday 28 October by joining in the world's biggest coffee morning.
Various blocks held their own events, with everyone rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in. They raised a whopping £821 for cancer charity Macmillan. Not bad for coffee and cakes!
Northwards Wardens Ernie Hayes and George Lightbowne put on the entertainment - music and dancing - followed by a hotpot lunch! A big raffle boosted the donations, and the event finished with a sing-a-long. Our retirement and caretaking manager, Tony Budgett, got stuck with the washing up!
"This was a great opportunity for staff and residents to have a good time while raising money for a worthy cause" said our retirement housing manager Pat Scappaticci. "Events like this help bring people together and strengthen communities."
We couldn't have picked a more worthy cause. Every year 270,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer. Macmillan works hard to improve their lives.
