Last week, Cath Park was the first Northwards Housing resident in the Monsall area to have her brand new kitchen finished under the government's new 'Decent Homes' programme.
Cath said, "I'm over the moon with it! The workmanship is just excellent and I can't stop coming in to look at it! I opted for a kitchen rather than a new bathroom, because I spend a lot more time here."
Northwards Housing have just passed a tough government inspection with flying colours - which has given them access to £200 million to spend on home improvements.
This means that all 13,000 Northwards Housing residents will get the same treatment as Cath over the next four years. Residents will get brand new double glazed windows, general home repairs and improvements and a choice of a brand new kitchen or bathroom.
Ade Alao, Chair of Northwards said, "Cath's kitchen looks fabulous - we're looking forward to spending the rest of the £200 million improving the homes of all our residents in north Manchester."
The improvement works in the area are being made by construction firm G&J Seddon. Director Jonathan Seddon said, "We're thrilled that Cath loves her new kitchen and really proud to be carrying out the work for Northwards residents in the area."
