Enjoy bonfire night and keep it safe!

Light up the Northwards sky, but keep safe and enjoy your night.

The best and safest way to enjoy bonfire night is to go to one of the local organised displays. North Manchester's parks are the places to enjoy fun and safe family nights out - and you'll get to see the very best fireworks around!

Brookdale Park, Friday 2 November, 4.00pm to 7.00pm

Boggart Hole Clough, 'Fireworks and Fantasy' Sunday 4 November, 5.30pm to 8.30pm

Heaton Park, Monday 5 November, 5.00pm to 8.00pm

If you are having an event at home, make sure it goes with a bang and not a burn! Here are a few tips to keep you and your family safe:

  • keep your bonfire at least 60 feet from houses and trees
  • only buy fireworks from a legal seller; make sure they're marked BS 7114
  • store fireworks in a closed box and never play with them or put them in your pocket
  • never go near a firework that's been lit, even if it hasn't gone off it; it could still explode
  • supervise children around fires and fireworks
  • light sparklers one at a time and wear gloves
  • keep pets indoors
  • don't drink alcohol if you're setting off fireworks
  • watch what you wear - avoid highly flammable materials

Getting tough on firework troublemakers

We're taking a tough line on bonfire and firework-related antisocial behaviour. Our wardens will be on the look-out for anyone acting irresponsibly with fireworks, and will work with the police and the CCTV control room to prosecute them.

They'll carry out high-visibility patrols in hot-spot areas of Collyhurst and Harpurhey, and are watching out for anyone selling illegal fireworks. The fire service are out and about removing dangerous and illegal bonfires.
