We are delighted to announce that Northwards Housing has been named one of the top 50 not-for-profit employers in the UK!
Last night, we rocketed up to number 46 in the Sunday Times Top 100 Not-For-Profit Organisations to Work For list.
This is the third time we've been recognised in the chart, which is compiled by Best Companies. We leapt up nearly 30 places in this year’s list, having come 74th in 2012.
We've tried lots of new things to make working for us a rewarding experience! The last 12 months alone saw us launch an in-house social network, allowing our employees across different offices to engage with each other. We also started a computer scheme which lets staff buy a new PC, Mac or tablet and spread the cost over a year.
Robin Lawler, chief executive of Northwards Housing, said: “This news reflects the hard work and commitment of all our employees here at Northwards.
“Staff morale is high because we try our best to give something back to the communities we serve.
“At a time when job losses and funding cuts have had a huge impact on the not-for-profit sector, for Northwards to soar up the rankings like this marks a great success.”
Here's what Best Companies had to say about us this time:
"Solar panels provide free daytime electricity to more than 1,300 north Manchester homes run by Northwards Housing, saving residents £250,000 a year. The arm’s length management organisation looks after 13,500 properties, and its 325 staff are sure their employer cares about the environment (79%, ninth among mid-sized not-for-profit bodies).
“Employees agree that their team is fun and their team mates go out of their way to help (both 78%).”
Look out for the official list, which will be published by The Sunday Times next month.
