Northwards Housing is proud to announce that we have won the 10th annual Ashden Awards, the world's leading green energy awards!
The award, presented by Sir David Attenborough (pictured), is given by experts in the field and recognised how Northwards goes far beyond government standards to ensure our homes are energy-efficient, with no charge to tenants.
We have managed to overhaul 70 per cent of our homes with environmental measures, from cavity or external wall insulation to double-glazed windows and A-rated boilers.
Sarah Butler-Sloss, founder director of the Ashden Awards, said: "The work carried out by Northwards Housing is an inspiration to other arms length management organisations and housing associations. This project has had significant social and community benefit"
Our environmental work has led to a carbon emission reduction of over 17,500 tonnes per year. This not only helps the environment but also means more comfortable homes and reduced bills for our tenants.
Robin Lawler, chief executive of Northwards Housing, said: "We are committed to reducing fuel poverty and improving lives and have worked closely with residents in North Manchester to achieve our aims
"We are delighted that our work over the past few years has had tangible benefits to residents and hope to inspire other housing associations to follow suit."
Even better news for Northwards tenants is that we received a £10,000 reward to invest in future sustainable energy work.
