A teenager who subjected a neighbour to nearly 12 months of racist abuse has been handed a two-year Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO).
Michael McKechnie, of Kesteven Road, Harpurhey was accused of throwing stones at the man's car, pushing shopping trolleys in front of it and joining a group of friends in continually shouting racist insults at him.
A witness said McKechnie had also racially insulted her daughter and had hurled abuse at her while she was on a bus.
A Northwards Housing Warden said in a statement that the 15-year-old tried to grab the keys to her van and repeatedly jumped on the back of it as she drove off.
McKechnie opposed the ASBO, admitting he had been with other youths when they were causing problems for the man, but denying his own involvement.
However, the order was granted by a judge at Manchester Magistrates' Court, meaning McKechnie is not allowed to enter Bramhope Walk in Harpurhey, gather in a group of more than three people in a public place or act in an anti-social manner.
Sue Ratchford, Chair of the Northwards Board said: "We will not tolerate racism in our neighbourhoods. By working closely with the community and other agencies, we aim to eradicate this type of behaviour."
