Housing Benefit

Claim and calculate benefits online

Housing Benefit is paid to people on a low income who rent their home.

It can pay some or all of your rent depending on your circumstances - how much you earn, how many children you've got and so on.

Housing Benefit, and Council Tax Benefit, is paid by Manchester City Council.

Claim benefits by applying online (you can get a calculation to see what benefit you should get online too). This is the fastest way to get your claim going.

Or you can use a paper application form: download a paper benefit claim form (City Council website), or contact the Benefits Service (City Council website)

If you have a query about your housing benefit or council tax benefit, you can arrange a face to face interview with an Advisor from Manchester Revenues and Benefits Service.

Appointment sessions are held at various locations throughout North Manchester, including the Cheetham Local Services Office. If you want an appointment, please ring the Revenues and Benefits appointment line on 0161 234 3695.

Remember, if you have a change of circumstances you must inform both the Rents Team (phone 0161 720 4002) and Manchester Revenues and Benefits Service (phone 0161 234 5003) immediately.
