Q41 It's took 30 odd
years to get a decent path across the Dam Head park site and we are
very grateful to now have one, but we need lights on it as it's very
dark at night and not safe to walk through.
M Keane, Dam Head
A Working with the Dam
Head Residents' Association and our colleagues in Manchester
Leisure, we've made big improvements to Dam Head Pak - which have
gone down well with local residents. We are currently looking at
whether further improvements are needed, and will look at the
possibility of improved lighting as part of this.
Joan FitzGerald, Chair
Neighbourhood & Quality Services Sub-Committee
Q40 Could you please
tell me what is to happen with Whitebeck Court? It is an eyesore, I
can hear kids breaking in the block at all hours of the night. I
rang the Police on a few occasions. They don't turn up.
Mr K J Taylor, Kentmere Court
A We are working with
Manchester Council colleagues on developing plans for the block.
Local residents will be kept informed - this includes talking to the
Moorway Tenants and Residents Association. In the meantime we have
taken extra steps to secure the block.

Q39 Why do you allow
vehicles without disabled badges to park in the disabled areas in
front of multi storey flats?
Anonymous
A This is inconsiderate
behaviour and could constitute a breach of tenancy. If you know who
is responsible then you could speak to them about it if you feel
able to do so. Otherwise let us have the details so that we can deal
with it.
Joan FitzGerald, Chair
Neighbourhood & Quality Services Sub-Committee
Q38 Why are there no
recycling facilities available in high rise buildings? In this day
and age it should be the case. There are 70 odd homes in this block
and over a year that is a lot of waste paper.
Mr G Allen, Rushcroft Court
A We are currently looking
at providing more recycling facilities at all our multi-storey
blocks - we like to offer as many opportunities as possible. We'll
make sure residents are kept informed of what's happening at their
block.
Joan FitzGerald, Chair
Neighbourhood & Quality Services Sub-Committee
Q37 Why is there no
recycling on the estate and why do the bin men always leave the bin
cupboard doors open after collection? They have already had to be
replaced on 12 houses. Why?
Anonymous
A We work closely with our
colleagues in the Council's Waste Recycling Team to increase
recycling opportunities. We have consulted with residents on the
Smithfield Estate about this, but so far haven't been able to
identify a suitable area. We are looking at the problem again, and
will keep residents informed. In the meantime, we have asked the bin
men to make sure they close the bin store doors. We have also
carried out a survey of bin store doors on the estate; and we are
repairing or replacing those which are badly damaged or worn out.
