North Manchester pupils are 'safe as houses' thanks to our Northwards Wardens, who played their part once again in the annual 'Crucial Crew' safety event at the TA barracks in Gorton.
Organised by the Children's Safety Education Foundation, the event, which took place in June, saw over 1,100 primary school children from 50 different local schools attending over three weeks.
Along with partner agencies like the police and ambulance service, our wardens helped the kids get sussed about safety, teaching them how to cope when faced with a fire, how to stay safe from crime and the consequences of antisocial behaviour.
The youngsters also discovered the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse, how to deal with an emergency first aid situation and road safety awareness.
Not only does this successful scheme promote well being and good citizenship, but it's expanding every year and continues to be an excellent way of getting positive messages across to thousands of children in one place at one time.
