Garage tenancy agreement

Make sure you understand these rules BEFORE you apply for a garage

  1. You must pay your rent. It must be paid on time. Your rent is due every week but you can pay in advance every two weeks or every month if you prefer.
  2. The tenancy agreement can be ended either by you or the council with three month's written notice. The three months must start on a 'quarter day' - March 25, June 24, September 29, December 25. You must continue to pay rent for the three months of this notice period.
  3. The garage can only be used for keeping one car.
  4. You must keep the inside of the garage, the doors and windows, in good repair, and in a clean and tidy condition.
  5. You must not use the garage for any trade, business or occupation.
  6. You must not use the garage in a way that cause a nuisance, annoyance or inconvenience to other people or to the council.
  7. You must not sublet the garage, or assign it to anyone else, or part with possession.
  8. You must indemnify Northwards Housing against all proceedings, claims and demands that may arise from you renting the garage.
  9. You must allow Northwards Housing, its agents and officers to enter the garage at any time to inspect its condition.
  10. You must not alter the inside or outside of the garage.
  11. You must not do anything that would increase the rate of insurance on the garage, or make that insurance void.
