Meet Jim – he’s 86 and lives in a retirement housing scheme in Ancoats. That may sound pretty ordinary, but there’s more to Jim than that.
Jim is an incredibly talented artist, and living proof that we are never too old to learn and develop. He started an MA in Fine art at the tender age of 80 at Salford University.
Jim regularly contributes to exhibitions and events at Manchester Art Gallery.
His most recent work was featured during the gallery’s special programme of events commemorating the First World War.
If you love art, or just fancy doing something different, you should check out Manchester Art Gallery.
Once a year they hand the reigns over to Manchester’s older people to put on their very own exhibition.
You don’t need to be an artist, just have an interest in learning something new or trying something a bit different.
You can see more in their video, which also features a cameo from Jim!
