(Tangled Dance Company used the funding to help run workshops in Heaton Park)
Did you know that you and your neighbours can get up to £500 for an activity or project that will benefit your community?
The money, from our Eric Hobin Community Sponsorship Fund, has been used to fund everything from one-off neighbourhood events to ongoing projects. Whether you're just one person or part of a group, you can apply now as long as your idea benefits local people.
Last year, Amy Hallam from the Tangled Dance Company applied for cash to help put on workshops at Heaton Park. The events gave local childen the chance to get involved in a music video and photo session, with dance lessons and costumes to bring fairy tale characters to life.
Some of the children were young carers - under 18s who help look after a relative with a condition, such as a disability or illness.
"The project encouraged local children to help and support each other with different tasks and make new friends," said Amy. "We wanted to build their confidence and inspire them to appreciate their local park and surroundings."
