Seven-year-old Keir McLaughlin is on his way to Legoland after helping name our brand new environmentally-friendly vans!

Our estate services team have three shiny new vehicles that run on 100% electricity, making them clean and green.

To celebrate this important step in our commitment to the environment, we decided to give them names. We roped in local school children to help us come up with something creative for one of the vans. Keir, a St Malachy’s Primary School pupil, suggested ‘The Vantom’ and we loved it! Electric vehicles are much quieter than those that run on fossil fuels so we thought this name was suitably sneaky.

We invited Keir and his twin brother Alex over to the White Moss Road Housing office to officially unveil the new vehicle with our chief executive Robin Lawler and chair of the board Sue Abbott:

To say thank you, we are treating Keir and his family to a day out during the summer holidays at the Legoland Discovery Centre and we made a £300 donation to St Malachys Primary School.

We named the other two vans 'Vantastic' and 'Van Dabi Dozi' – as suggested by our very own Waste and Recycling Officer, John Allan.
