A workman has been hailed a hero after he helped an elderly man who collapsed in the street.
Grandad Derek Townley was walking along Booth Hall Road - just yards from his home - when he fell, breaking his nose and fracturing his skull.
But a kind-hearted workman came to Derek’s aid, calling an ambulance and sitting with him until paramedics arrived more than an hour later.
Gary Stringer is a joiner for our contractors Manchester Working. He had been on a job nearby when he saw Derek fall face down into a puddle.
