(L-R, Robin Lawler, Abdulqadir Moobe and guest presenter Lisa Riley)
A refugee who is so dedicated that he walked from Salford to college in Moston each day because he couldn't afford the bus is tipped for the top at Northwards.
Originally from Somalia, Abdulqadir Moobe started with us as a housing apprentice. He began working with our housing officers in Cheetham, where his knowledge of five different languages served our diverse tenants very well. After learning the ropes at the local office, he's now helping the Rehousing Team with the thousands of applications they have to deal with.
Awards Glory
On Friday, Abdul was given the Chief Executive's Special Commendation at our staff awards ceremony. Robin Lawler, our chief exec, said: "His capacity for learning and delivering fantastic customer service has really stood out.
"During his relatively short time here, he has made a huge impact, proving himself to be adaptable and capable of being part of any team.
"Abdul’s determination is what really stands out. He is determined to be the best at whatever he puts his mind to. I have no doubt he will go far. I may need to watch out for my job."
Watch Abdul tell his story in his own words...
