A big new project to improve health in north Manchester

September 21 2017 | Articles | News

We’re excited to be part of a new partnership that’s looking to change the health and wellbeing of people across our communities.

The Community Links for Health programme will provide individual support to people to improve and maintain their health and wellbeing. In fact, we’re currently recruiting four Community Link Workers (and yes are looking for an Employability Support Advisor) to help the programme do just that.

“Prevention is better than the cure” is an old saying, but it’s a true one. The purpose of this £1.4million project is to step in and help individuals with their health as early as possible by having a big presence and ensuring they are aware of opportunities in their local community.  We also aim to reduce the amount of time GPs and other health professionals currently spend dealing with non-medical issues, such as housing, debt and unemployment.

The programme will run from locations across north Manchester, such as local housing offices, libraries and health centres.

Along with Northwards Housing, the partnership running this new service includes the Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, Northern Health GPPO, Pathways CIC and yes.
