We have a temporary opportunity within the Rents Team for a Rent Caseworker to deliver a professional and responsive rent recovery service, actively engaging and supporting customers to enable them to sustain their tenancies.
You will be working in a busy and pressurised team as we look to sustain income collection within the challenging landscape of welfare reform.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of managing rent arrears within a social housing setting. However, you may have experience in others areas that could be transferred to this role. Knowledge of basic welfare and benefits advice is essential for this role, as is experience of supporting vulnerable people.
In this role you will need to be a positive, resilient and inclusive individual as you help find the best solution for our customers. You will focus on cases of non-payment taking appropriate and timely action including home visits, telephone work, correspondence, office interviews, and appropriate referrals for specialist advice.
You should be familiar with changes to welfare reform and the impact of Universal Credit and will work closely with Revenue and Benefits and other partner organisations to minimise rent arrears and enable tenants to manage their rent account.
You should be familiar with, and competent in, the use of QL or have a sound working knowledge of a similar system.
You’ll be just as comfortable working in a friendly, busy team as you are on your own initiative, as well as having the ability to identify problems and offer recommendations for effective solutions.
